National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall
East of Dinghao is the National Dr Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall(Guofu Jinian Guan),dedicated to the man called Sun Yat-sen. Designed by a local architect Wang Da-hung, this memorial hall was builded in memory of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the founder of the Republic of China.
The hall also serves some educational, cultural and art events throughout the year, including the Golden Horse Awards, Golden Bell Awards, and Culture Awards. The hall is surrounded by a large park, further making it a popular weekend escape for city residents. The main entrance to the hall has a statue of Sun Yat-sen. Every hour, there is a formal changing of the soldiers, which is a popular tourist attraction. The building also includes a performance hall, an exhibition center of about 10,000 square feet, a multimedia theater, an audio-visual center, lecture halls, and a library with over 300,000 books.
